Queen Camilla Misses Major State Visit Events Due to Ongoing Health Issues

Queen Camilla’s health concerns are continuing to impact her public duties as Buckingham Palace announced a change in plans for her role in the upcoming State Visit. The Queen, who is still dealing with the lingering effects of a viral chest infection, will not be attending the ceremonial welcome of the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani, reported by PEOPLE.

According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, the official schedule has been adjusted, with Queen Camilla missing the outdoor event at Horse Guards Parade, which will still be attended by King Charles and Prince William on Tuesday. Additionally, she will not be participating in the traditional carriage ride back to Buckingham Palace following the event.

Despite her absence from these key moments, Queen Camilla is still expected to be present for other parts of the State Visit. She is scheduled to attend the luncheon at the Palace after the ceremony and will also view an exhibition in the Picture Gallery.

This latest change in her schedule comes after the Queen has been grappling with a viral chest infection for several weeks. The illness has caused her to miss several major events, including Remembrance Sunday Weekend and the Royal Variety Performance in November, both of which are significant dates in the royal calendar. Royal doctors advised her to skip these engagements to avoid further complications and allow for proper recovery.

The Queen reportedly contracted the viral infection during her trip to Australia and Samoa, and it has left her with “significantly diminished reserves of energy.” As a result, her doctors have recommended that she rest until she has fully recovered to prevent any long-term health issues.

While Queen Camilla’s absence from some public engagements has raised concerns, her recovery remains a priority, and the Palace has adjusted her schedule accordingly to ensure she can still participate in key events without further strain.
