Tragic Schoolyard Stabbing: 15-Year-Old Boy Fatally Wounded in Front of Young Witnesses
0In a harrowing incident outside a Leeds primary school, 15-year-old Alfie Lewis was fatally stabbed, reportedly in full view of young students and their parents. The tragic event occurred just before 3 PM on November 7, 2023, as children were leaving school.
Alfie suffered two stabs; one to the chest that pierced his heart and another to his leg. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene, with the lethal chest wound being 14cm deep. The accused, a 14-year-old boy who is also from Leeds, allegedly carried out the attack and is now standing trial for murder at Leeds Crown Court, shared by Sky News.
The prosecution, led by Craig Hassall KC, presented that the defendant had brought a 13cm-long kitchen knife from his home to the area near the school where Alfie was supposed to meet friends. The confrontation left Alfie visibly shocked and questioning, “What are you doing?” before he was attacked.
Eyewitnesses—comprising parents and children—reported that Alfie was not the aggressor and appeared to be defending himself during the attack. The defendant, after the stabbing, reportedly fled the scene, discarding the knife nearby.
The court heard that while the defendant has admitted to possessing the knife and causing Alfie’s death, he claims he acted in self-defense. However, the prosecution challenged this assertion, highlighting multiple witness testimonies that described the defendant’s actions as deliberate and unprovoked.
The case continues with the jury consisting of seven women and five men, hearing from various witnesses who were present during the tragic incident. The defense and prosecution will further elaborate on the circumstances leading up to Alfie’s death, examining the intent and actions of the defendant, who remains unnamed due to legal protections for minors.
