Black Widow Killer’s Ex-Husband Issues Chilling Warning No Man is Safe After Her Release for Murder and Fraud

Dena Thompson, infamously known as the “Black Widow” killer, lured her victims with false tales of financial struggles and fake cancer battles, only to betray them. Now, her ex-husband Lee Wyatt, who narrowly escaped her deadly clutches, has issued a chilling warning to all men: “Stay away from her.”

Thompson, 64, defrauded, poisoned, and even physically attacked multiple husbands, including her second husband Julian Webb, whom she murdered by hiding anti-depressants in his curry in 1994. Released from prison in 2022 after serving nearly two decades for her crimes, Thompson remains a threat, according to her first husband.

“I was the first victim,” Wyatt, 68, told Mail Online. “I wanted someone to grow old with, but now I look back and think I’m lucky to be alive.” He added, “No man is safe around her. She plays the sweet, innocent woman who couldn’t hurt a fly, but it’s all an act.”

Thompson’s web of deceit targeted several men, including Richard Thompson, her third husband, whom she married after convincing him she had breast cancer. She later tied him up, attacked him with a baseball bat, and attempted to stab him. He only survived by fighting back and escaping.

In 2003, Thompson was jailed for life after being convicted of poisoning Webb, but her manipulative spree didn’t stop there. She had defrauded at least eight men, persuading them to give her large sums of money, which she funneled into fraudulent accounts.

Retired Sussex detective Sean McDonald, who led the investigation, echoed Wyatt’s warning: “If someone you know meets a woman named Dena, call the police.” Thompson’s ability to manipulate men through lonely hearts ads made her a dangerous predator, and now that she’s free, the threat lingers.

Her dark history will be explored in a new true crime documentary, Black Widow, premiering September 15 on Sky Documentaries, with all episodes available on Sky and NOW.
