Sasha Johnson: Black equal rights activist in ICU after being shot in head in London
0After a gunshot wound to her head in an incident in south London the Black Lives Matter activist Sasha Johnson is in critical condition.

Taking the Initiative’s statement declared: “It is with great sadness that we inform you that our own Sasha Johnson has sustained a gunshot wound to her head. She is currently hospitalized and in critical condition. The incident happened in the early hours of this morning, following numerous death threats”.
“Sasha has always been actively fighting for black people and the injustices that surround the black community, as well as being both a member of BLM and a member of Taking the Initiative Party’s Executive Leadership Committee. Sasha is also a mother of 3 and a strong, powerful voice for our people and our community.”
Her page Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership on the website said: “She has an immense passion for implementing change and justice and has been actively supporting the eradication of injustices in society by attending and leading protests.” The TTIP has urged people to “all come together and pray for Sasha, pray for her recovery and show our support to her family and loved ones”.
In the early hours of Sunday, Metropolitan police later reissued a request for witnesses concerning a 27-year-old woman in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being shot. Having said that according to the Met the woman was found after officers were called to reports of gunshots in Peckham, southeast London, shortly before 3 am.
A spokesperson said that: It is believed the shooting occurred in the vicinity of a house where a party was taking place and several people may have been in the area. Detectives from the Met’s specialist crime command (Trident) were leading the investigation. While the inquiry was at an early stage, there was nothing to recommend it was a targeted attack or that the woman had held any credible threats against her before this incident. DCI Jimi Tele stated: “This was a shocking incident that has left a young woman with very serious injuries. Our thoughts are with her family who is being provided with support at this difficult time.”
