Billy Ray Cyrus Denies Lawsuit Claiming Woman is Miley’s Biological Mother
Billy Ray Cyrus is dealing with something he probably never imagined would land on his doorstep in 2024. A woman has come forward claiming she’s the real biological mother of Miley Cyrus, and according to new reports, the country star isn’t having any of it.
The woman, identified as Jayme Lee, allegedly filed a lawsuit back in May where she claimed she had a “private adoption agreement” with Billy and Miley’s mom, Tish Cyrus. The whole thing reads like a plot twist from a made-for-TV movie, except it’s playing out in real life. Last month, Billy Ray reportedly took legal action of his own, completely denying her story.
According to the Daily Mail, the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer described Lee’s allegations as “false and absurd,” even going as far as calling them “delusional.” In her filing, Lee claimed that she suffered “severe emotional distress” and argued that Miley’s parents had once agreed to let her remain part of Miley’s life. She said they supposedly offered her the chance to give Miley her name and be her “nanny and piano teacher.”

That’s where things get even murkier. In the lawsuit, Lee accused Billy and Tish of “breach of contract, fraud and misrepresentation, intentional inflection of emotional distress, and unlawful interference with parental rights.” She later amended the filing in June, saying the Cyrus parents allegedly “cut off all contact” after Miley was born and “threatened with police action.”
Billy Ray’s response was pretty direct. According to the outlet, he filed a motion arguing that the lawsuit existed only for the “purposes of harassing” his family, and he noted he wasn’t even aware Lee had filed her claims until recently. His legal team backed him up, saying the woman’s case had already collapsed.
His attorney told The Daily Mail that things officially wrapped on December 5. “The Court dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice this morning and awarded Mr Cyrus the recovery of his reasonable and necessary attorney’s fees and costs,” the statement read. For Billy Ray, that ruling likely brings a huge sigh of relief after a situation that spiraled from bizarre to stressful in a matter of months.
While Miley hasn’t publicly commented and no extra details have surfaced from the family side, it’s clear that Billy Ray wants this put to rest. Court dismissals with prejudice aren’t subtle. They’re the legal system’s version of saying, “This isn’t happening again.”
Stories involving celebrity families always grab attention, especially when they involve an A-lister as famous as Miley Cyrus. But most fans are taking the claims with a massive grain of salt. The dismissal and the judge’s decision to award fees suggest the court wasn’t buying what Lee was selling.
For now, the Cyrus family seems to be moving on. Whether Jayme Lee resurfaces or tries another legal angle remains to be seen, but at this point, the courts have spoken, and Billy Ray has made his position very clear.
