Professional dancer Amy Dowden, currently on the Strictly Come Dancing tour, has shared the devastating news that her close friend Hannah has passed away from breast cancer, just a year after Amy herself was declared cancer-free. Amy, who was diagnosed with grade three breast cancer in May 2023, underwent intensive treatment, including a mastectomy and chemotherapy. By February 2024, she announced there was “no evidence of the disease” left in her body.

Taking to Instagram, Amy shared an emotional tribute to Hannah, whom she met during her own treatment journey. “Life is cruel and I truly hate cancer!” she wrote, according to Wales Online. “A beautiful soul, Hannah I met during treatment,” Amy explained that she and Hannah became close friends as their appointments often aligned, giving them time to chat and support each other. “We always had a good natter about the world,” Amy recalled.

The loss has deeply affected Amy, who wrote, “The news has hit me quite hard. I spoke about Hannah on Loose Women, and she immediately messaged me to say thank you and she loved it.” One of their frequent conversations centered around life after cancer. Amy, being six months ahead in her treatment, often found herself answering Hannah’s questions and providing reassurance, as reported by Devon Live.

Amy described Hannah as “the most genuine mother and soul” and expressed heartbreak over the impact on Hannah’s family. “Her twin daughters have already lost their dad to this horrible disease,” she shared. Amy concluded her tribute with heartfelt words: “I’m gutted and angry. RIP beautiful Hannah. What a woman!” She also shared a photo of Hannah and included a link for donations to support her family.
