Amanda Holden Admits Jealousy Over Friends’ Marriages as Husband ‘Falls Short’ in Crucial Area
0Amanda Holden, the popular Heart FM Breakfast presenter, revealed a humorous confession on air—she’s envious of her friends whose husbands can cook. During the September 25 episode, Amanda, 53, shared that her husband, Chris Hughes, isn’t much of a chef, leaving her to handle most of the family cooking.
It all started during a segment of the show’s “Parent Trap” game, where callers Simon and Paula participated. The game involves parents answering questions in a style similar to “Mr. and Mrs.,” with their children also providing answers. When Paula admitted she was the main cook in her household, Amanda could relate all too well, told The Mirror.
“Same in my house, Paula—it’s a disgrace,” Amanda confessed. “I’m so jealous of loads of friends who have husbands who sort of whip up wonderful dinners and stuff in the afternoon, it never happens here.”
Amanda and her husband, Chris Hughes, a record producer, have been together for nearly two decades. The couple first met in Los Angeles in 2003, although their romance didn’t begin until a year later. They tied the knot in a picturesque ceremony at St. Margaret’s Church in Somerset in December 2008, followed by a lavish reception at the exclusive Babington House. The wedding even featured Formula One driver David Coulthard as the best man.
Now residing in the serene Surrey village of Cobham, Amanda and Chris share two daughters—Alexa and Hollie. Despite her humorous complaints about Chris’s lack of culinary skills, Amanda often speaks highly of their relationship. On their 15th wedding anniversary last December, she described Chris as her “best friend.”
However, like any long-married couple, Amanda admits they “bicker” daily but maintain a happy home through plenty of laughter. In a recent interview with OK! Magazine, she shared some secrets to their long-lasting marriage. “The main secret behind a successful marriage is to have a bloody good sense of humor! Plus, I really fancy Chris,” Amanda revealed.
She went on to describe moments where she’s reminded of her attraction to her husband, even after all these years. “We’ll be eating dinner in a restaurant, he’ll go to the loo, then I’ll look up and catch a glimpse of a man and think he’s fit! Then I’ll realize, ‘Gosh, that’s my husband!’ I still fancy him.”
While Chris may not be the chef of the house, it’s clear the couple’s strong bond and shared sense of humor have played a big role in their happy marriage. Whether they’re bickering over little things or laughing together, Amanda and Chris continue to keep their relationship fresh—and it seems that’s all the recipe they need.
