Alison Hammond Reveals How She Lost 11 Stone and Why She Avoids Ozempic

Alison Hammond, the beloved This Morning presenter, has shared the incredible story of how she lost an astounding 11 stone without resorting to popular weight-loss medications like Ozempic. At 49, Alison opened up about her weight-loss journey, which was sparked by a personal health scare and her desire to improve her well-being after the death of her mother.

Alison, who weighed 28 stone at her heaviest, decided to take control of her health after being diagnosed as pre-diabetic—a condition that her late mother, who had type 2 diabetes, had long worried about. “My mum had type 2 diabetes and she was worried for me, so when I then found out that I was pre-diabetic, that was frightening,” Alison admitted in an interview with Good Housekeeping UK, reports the Mirror.

The transformation wasn’t achieved through quick fixes like Ozempic. Instead, Alison focused on lifestyle changes, including cutting out sweets and fatty foods and committing to regular exercise. “I thought, I have to be an adult about this. The sweets had to stop – and the fatty foods. Twice a week, I see my personal trainer and I have a couple of weights in my bedroom. I walk, I stretch and sometimes I do a bit of yoga,” she explained.

Although Ozempic and similar weight-loss injections are popular, Alison made it clear that they weren’t for her. “I think that, for people who need to use them, they’re a good thing – but for me, as soon as I hear any scare story, I get frightened,” she said, adding that while she would never judge others who use them, she prefers to avoid weight-loss jabs, according to the Daily Record.

One of the key turning points in Alison’s weight-loss journey was an embarrassing incident on a plane. “I was nearly 28 stone, I’ll be honest with you and that is morbidly obese,” she recalled on This Morning. She went on to describe how she used to buy an extra seat to avoid inconveniencing others, but an uncomfortable situation with a fellow passenger left her feeling humiliated. “I was made to feel uncomfortable on one occasion when I was so close to someone’s seat… It was embarrassing, and from that moment I just started buying two seats. I don’t do it anymore because I’ve lost a bit of timber.”

Now weighing 17 stone, Alison has not only improved her health but also her confidence. “People will still say I’m big but now I’m 17 stone rather than 28 stone and I’m comfortable with telling you my weight,” she said. Alison’s dedication to weightlifting, boxing, and regular workouts with her personal trainer, Lui Mancini, has led to a newfound sense of self-assurance, and she frequently receives compliments from fans on her radiant appearance.
