Alison Hammond Opens Up About 22-Year Age Gap in Relationship and Sacrificing Time with Son

Alison Hammond has shared an honest glimpse into her relationship with her 27-year-old boyfriend, David Putman, who is 22 years younger than her, reported by the Independent. The This Morning presenter, 49, has been dating the Russian masseur since 2023, but the couple has kept their romance largely private. In a recent interview with Good Housekeeping magazine, Alison opened up about the age gap, calling David “mature” and “sensible,” despite the significant difference in their ages.

Alison reflected on the reactions to their relationship, admitting that people often use the term “toyboy” to describe David, but she insists it “bears no relation” to what they have together. “Yes, I’m 22 years older than he is, but if you saw us together, you’d understand,” Alison explained. “People have said to me: ‘We get it now.’” She spoke fondly of their connection, comparing their bond to a jigsaw puzzle that “fits and it all comes together.”

The couple has kept their relationship low-key, away from the public eye. Despite the occasional criticism or judgment, Alison has no doubts about her relationship, stating that their age gap isn’t a barrier to their happiness.

In addition to discussing her relationship with David, Alison also shared a personal insight into her life as a mother. She has a 19-year-old son, Aiden, whom she shares with her ex-husband Noureddine Boufaied. Alison described the love she shares with Aiden as “magical,” and spoke about how he helps her stay in touch with what is “cool.” “He has his finger on the pulse,” Alison said, emphasizing how much her son means to her.

However, Alison recently became emotional when reflecting on the sacrifices she’s made in her career. During her acceptance speech for the Role Model award at the Multicultural Business and Community Champion Awards on November 30, she tearfully apologized to her son for not always being there for him. “I’ve sacrificed a lot of time with my son, over there and I just want to say to my son, I love you so much, son. And I’m so sorry I haven’t always been there, but I’ll be honest with you, the reason I was doing it was only for you,” she said.

Alison’s heartfelt words showed just how much she values her family, despite the demanding nature of her career.
