Alex Jones Fights Back Tears on The One Show as She Praises Young Fundraiser’s ‘Incredible Achievement’

The One Show’s Alex Jones was visibly emotional on Wednesday evening as she watched a moving segment featuring Emily, a young woman who completed a challenging walking journey to raise funds for Children in Need, according to the Mirror. Alex and co-host Roman Kemp welcomed viewers from the green sofa, with the pair later joined by actress Daisy Ridley and, most notably, 21-year-old Emily from North London, who took on the inspiring challenge despite her mobility limitations.

Emily, who relies on a wheelchair and walking sticks, walked down a tree-lined avenue for three days to support Children in Need. Her journey, marked by determination and resilience, culminated in a live appearance on The One Show, where she shared her story with Alex and Roman. Speaking about the obstacles she overcame, Emily said the experience left her feeling accomplished and proud, especially as she faced illness just before beginning the walk, reports Wales Online.

Emotionally impacted by Emily’s story, Alex struggled to find words, expressing her admiration for Emily’s strength. “You can’t even see on camera, I don’t think, but when I watched you today, gosh, doing the long walk, honestly, it’s so hard. It’s so hard!” Alex remarked. She continued, “I think it’s one of the hardest challenges I’ve seen on Children in Need, and you did it.” Alex then asked Emily how it felt to have achieved such a milestone, to which Emily responded, “It feels so good to have completed it because there was a part of me that really thought I couldn’t, especially because I got sick just before. But I feel amazing to have completed it and I’m really proud of myself.”

Emily’s determination resonated with viewers, who took to social media to share their support and admiration. One user wrote on X, “Well done lass. You’re a superstar!” Another commented, “Well done, Emily!! What a brave, courageous young lady. Many congratulations to her on such an incredible achievement.”

During her journey, Emily was accompanied by the Duchess of Edinburgh, a gesture that underscored the Duchess’s dedication to supporting young people and disabled individuals across the UK. Emily’s challenge, presented by The One Show, aimed to push her beyond her previous personal best in walking distance, and her accomplishment did just that, inspiring viewers nationwide.

The touching moment highlighted both Emily’s incredible perseverance and Alex Jones’s genuine compassion, capturing the spirit of Children in Need and the powerful impact of personal achievement on national television.
