A tragedy befalls the family when their five-year-old “amazing hero” passes away.

A courageous young boy, Harry Clarke, who faced numerous health challenges, has sadly passed away. Harry, described as an “amazing hero,” fought cancer and battled brain damage resulting from two seizures. The grieving family is now seeking support to provide him with the “best send-off” as they come to terms with their heartbreaking loss.

Harry passed away at Birmingham Children’s Hospital on October 29, and a fundraising appeal has surpassed its £1,500 target to ensure he receives a fitting farewell. The family, shattered by their loss, expressed uncertainty about the funeral plans and associated costs, emphasizing their desire to give Harry the best possible send-off during this difficult time, reports BirminghamLive. 

The GoFundMe page commemorates Harry’s remarkable journey, highlighting his resilience since he was nine weeks old. The narrative traces his triumphs over a stroke, dilated cardiomyopathy, a heart transplant at nine months, and subsequent battles with cancer and brain damage. Despite facing numerous challenges, Harry continued to fight with unwavering strength.

The fundraising page shares the family’s deep sorrow and describes Harry as a “heaven-sent hero” born on January 9, 2018. It acknowledges his incredible qualities, noting his intelligence, humor, and love. The family expressed their brokenness and the difficulty in finalizing funeral arrangements, emphasizing their primary goal of providing Harry with a deserving farewell.

Dr. Fiona Reynolds, Chief Medical Officer at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, extended condolences to Harry’s family and mentioned that they are actively reviewing concerns raised by the family.
