Prince Andrew faces police investigation after email about Epstein accuser leaks
Prince Andrew is once again under fire, this time facing a new police investigation after reports surfaced that he tried to use a Metropolitan Police officer to dig up information on Virginia Giuffre, the woman who accused him of sexual assault and was connected to Jeffrey Epstein.
The Mail on Sunday reported on October 18 that the younger brother of King Charles III sent an email to one of his taxpayer-funded Met bodyguards asking them to “investigate” Giuffre, who died earlier this year. In the message, Andrew allegedly wrote, “It would also seem [Giuffre] has a criminal record in the [United] States,” while providing her date of birth and social security number so his officer from the Met’s elite SO14 Royal Protection Group could look into her background.

Following the report, BBC presenter Victoria Derbyshire confirmed on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg that, “The Metropolitan Police say they are going to look into claims that Prince Andrew ordered his bodyguard to dig up dirt on Virginia Giuffre, who accused Prince Andrew of sexual abuse.”
The announcement comes only two days after Andrew issued a statement saying he would relinquish his remaining royal titles and public duties. The move followed renewed scrutiny over his connection to Epstein, the convicted pedophile whose death in 2019 still casts a long shadow over those in his circle.

Andrew has always denied Giuffre’s allegations, which claimed he sexually assaulted her when she was 17. While he remains a prince by birthright, he no longer uses royal titles or honors in public life. His attempts to step back from royal duties haven’t stopped the ongoing attention surrounding his role in the Epstein scandal, which continues to haunt him and the royal family.
Now, with the Metropolitan Police reopening an inquiry into his actions, Prince Andrew finds himself in yet another public storm. Buckingham Palace has not commented on the new claims, but the latest twist has revived public debate about accountability within the royal family and how far Andrew’s influence really goes.
