Max George shows fighting spirit as he bounces back from heart surgery

Max George has given fans a reassuring update as he continues to recover from several heart surgeries. The Wanted singer, 37, has faced a tough few months after being rushed to A&E by his mum in November when he noticed something was wrong with his heart. Doctors later fitted him with a pacemaker following weeks in hospital, and he finally made it home just before Christmas.

Since then, the star has had regular hospital visits for check-ups. On Thursday, he shared a photo from his hospital bed, flashing a peace sign for his followers. His caption read: “Tin man needed a bit of oil before the tour. Next stop. USA!!!”

The Strictly Come Dancing favourite is due to perform alongside bandmate Siva Kaneswaran in Orlando, Florida, on 10 October, marking the first stop of The Wanted 2.0’s US tour.

Earlier this year, in February, the group were forced to cancel their Manchester Cathedral show after Max’s ongoing heart issues meant he couldn’t perform.

Opening up about his latest surgery, Max admitted he was terrified before going under the knife. Doctors had warned him there was a risk of a “dangerous bleed” on his heart. He revealed he felt “really nervous” the night before and barely slept.

It’s been a long road to recovery, but his determination to get back on stage hasn’t wavered. Fans will no doubt be relieved to see him in better spirits, with his trademark humour shining through despite everything he’s faced.
