Strictly’s Motsi Mabuse Breaks Down Over Sister Oti’s Shocking Decision

Motsi Mabuse, the beloved Strictly Come Dancing judge, recently opened up about the emotional impact of her sister Oti’s departure from the show. The two sisters, who shared the Strictly stage for three seasons, with Motsi as a judge and Oti as a professional dancer, had developed a strong bond over the years. Oti, who left the show after the 2021 season following two glitterball victories, continues to have a significant presence in Motsi’s life, despite no longer being physically present on the show.

In an interview with Fabric magazine, Motsi admitted she was initially anxious after her sister’s exit. “Yes, I miss her, but she’s still on the show because she watches the show. We’re always communicating by phone,” Motsi explained. She shared that Oti often checks in with lighthearted feedback, saying things like, “‘Fix your hair! Or like, ‘What did you just say?’”

Despite Oti no longer being a part of Strictly, Motsi found comfort in their ongoing connection. “It’s like she’s there with me,” Motsi said. “Being without her was what I was afraid of, but she’s there with me. So, she never really left Strictly. She might not be there in person, but her presence will always be felt.”

Oti, who has since become a judge on Dancing on Ice and taken on various other projects, continues to contribute to the world of dance, even helping with choreography on Strictly. Oti’s impressive achievements include two glitterball wins, first with actor Kelvin Fletcher and later with comedian Bill Bailey, reports Lancs Live.

Motsi also shared a fun insight into her family’s competitive nature during an appearance on the Parenting Hell podcast with Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe. “In our house, Scrabble is not Scrabble for us, Scrabble for us is like the Gladiators (we’re like) ‘this is war,’” Motsi joked. She revealed that the intense competition runs deep within her family, saying, “We don’t play them (board games) anymore, because when somebody loses we don’t talk to each other for three days.”

Despite their competitive spirit, Motsi emphasized that dance brings the family together. “Dancing is the one thing we actually do as a family that brings us together, we motivate each other, we do TikToks, it’s fun, we’re not competing in that way.”

The Mabuse sisters’ strong bond continues to be a central part of their lives, with Oti’s influence still felt within Motsi’s Strictly journey.
