Coleen Rooney Opens Up About Marriage on I’m A Celebrity’s First Night in the Jungle

ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! returned on Sunday evening with a fresh group of 10 celebrities swapping their luxurious lifestyles for the rugged Australian bush. The highly anticipated premiere saw the campmates bonding by the fire, where TV personality Coleen Rooney shared candid insights about her marriage to former England football star Wayne Rooney.

The 38-year-old, seated with fellow contestants GK Barry, Oti Mabuse, and Jane Moore, faced questions about her relationship. According to the Mirror, When asked by Oti if it was “love at first sight,” Coleen laughed and admitted, “No, it was for him, not for me. He fought to get me, yeah. I waited until I’d done my GCSEs and then I went on a date. I was pretty good at school.”

Coleen reminisced about their first date at the cinema, adding, “We had a kiss around the church first!”

Ahead of her jungle adventure, Coleen revealed she had been approached to join the show multiple times but had always declined. “It has been year after year I have been asked to go on a programme and it’s always been a straight no,” she said. She explained that her children’s young ages and other commitments had kept her from participating in the past.

“But they are at an age now where I can go away for this length of time,” Coleen continued. “I also feel it’s time to have a challenge for me and do something different. It has taken many, many years but I’m finally doing it. And I have always said if I was going to do one, it would be this show. I think it will be good for me.”

Elsewhere in the episode, the celebs faced their first jungle challenge—a race to camp—which determined the initial leaders of the group. Hosts Ant and Dec revealed that the winners would enjoy perks, including sleeping in the Leaders’ Lodge and skipping the first Bushtucker trial.

Coronation Street actor Alan Halsall and singer Tulisa Contostavlos emerged victorious, narrowly beating Danny Jones and Barry McGuigan. Their win secured their spots as camp leaders for the week.

With Coleen’s heartfelt revelations and the celebrities already tackling challenges, I’m A Celebrity is off to an exciting start, promising drama, laughter, and unforgettable moments in the jungle.
