Lesley Joseph Delights Good Morning Britain Hosts with Her Youthful Spirit and Future Plans as She Nears 80

Screen star Lesley Joseph charmed Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley as she shared stories of her impressive career and upcoming projects on Wednesday. The 79-year-old actress, known for her role as Dorien Green in Birds of a Feather, insisted, “I really am not ready to retire,” as the trio chatted during a commercial break.

At one point, Lesley joked, “I should be at my age,” prompting Richard to ask, “What is your age?” Lesley laughed and replied, “In the old days, you couldn’t say your age because nobody could find out, but I am 80 next year. Can you even believe it?”, reported by the Sun.

Richard clapped his hands in amazement, while Susanna exclaimed, “No! You look 25 years younger!” Lesley humorously responded, “I thought you were going to say 25 years older! I was about to say!” Susanna then praised her further, saying, “You look 25. You look incredible—that is amazing though.”

When Susanna asked if Lesley’s youthful look was due to her active lifestyle, Lesley agreed, sharing, “I walk everywhere—I walk two miles a day at least.”

During the interview, Lesley also weighed in on the possibility of a Birds of a Feather reboot. The iconic comedy originally aired on BBC One from 1989 to 1998 and returned for a successful revival on ITV from 2014 to 2020. However, the show was reportedly axed in 2021 amid rumors of a clash between co-stars Linda Robson and Pauline Quirke. Alleged tensions between the two led to Pauline’s absence from the 30th-anniversary special in 2019 and the Christmas special a year later, though Linda has disputed these claims.

Addressing the speculation, Lesley said that a revival is unlikely. When Richard asked if the show might return, she replied, “No, it isn’t. Pauline loves her theatre school, and she has given up acting. No, I don’t think it will.” Despite the end of Birds of a Feather, Lesley mentioned that she and Linda had collaborated on lighter reality shows, such as Coach Trip.

Lesley’s appearance on Good Morning Britain highlighted her vibrant energy and dedication to her work, as well as her openness about aging. Despite her longstanding career, the TV legend has previously admitted to feeling insecurities about her age, yet her positive outlook and commitment to staying active clearly continue to inspire both fans and her co-hosts.
