Deal or No Deal Viewers Spot ‘Clue’ Suggesting Player Selection May Not Be Random After All

Fans of ITV’s Deal or No Deal believe they’ve uncovered a subtle hint that player selection on the show might not be as random as it appears. Stephen Mulhern, who joined a fresh batch of contestants vying for the chance to win big, took his turn in the hot seat. However, viewers were quick to notice something curious about the setup when each contestant was supposedly “randomly” selected.

As fans of the show know, a scroller displays all the contestants’ names on screen, before randomly stopping on one, indicating that contestant as the next to play. But eagle-eyed viewers claim they’ve spotted a telltale clue that the process may be staged, reported by the Express.

The clue? The chosen contestant’s family or friends always seem to be conveniently seated in the front row, directly behind the contestant. Throughout the episode, the player frequently turns to these close ones for advice, making it essential they’re positioned in that specific area. Viewers have started to question how random the selection can truly be if family members are already in prime seating.

Fans took to social media platform X to share their suspicions. One user asked, “Just wondering if it’s a surprise who’s playing? How come their family/friends are there?” Another viewer agreed, saying, “Why do the #DealOrNoDeal contestants act shocked when their name’s picked to play if a relative is sitting in the audience, or is the audience made up of loads of relatives of the contestants?”

A third chimed in, expressing similar skepticism: “Silly question, but if it is a surprise which contestant is picked, how is their family member always in the right place in the audience? And if a contestant is chosen at random, how come friends/family are already there and in the front row? #DealOrNoDeal.”

This “giveaway clue” has stirred discussions online, with many fans debating whether the selection process is as spontaneous as it seems. While Deal or No Deal has yet to respond to these claims, the speculation has added another layer of intrigue for viewers who tune in, not just for the big-money wins, but now to see if they can catch more “clues” suggesting a less-than-random selection process.
