Amy Dowden Vows to ‘Keep Pushing’ After Emotional Exit from Strictly Come Dancing

Amy Dowden has shared a heartfelt update following her difficult decision to withdraw from Strictly Come Dancing due to an injury. The beloved professional dancer, who made a courageous return to the BBC show this year after battling stage 3 breast cancer and enduring chemotherapy, remains “determined to keep pushing” as she focuses on recovery and resilience, according to the Daily Record.

Amy, 34, was warmly welcomed back to the Strictly ballroom for the 20th-anniversary series, dancing alongside JLS singer JB Gill. However, after sustaining a foot injury, she was forced to leave the competition. Doctors are hopeful that she may be back on her feet by December, and Amy has turned her energy toward rehabilitation, sharing her journey with her fans.

On Instagram, Amy posted a series of stories showing her dedication to recovery, including videos from her gym sessions. In one clip, she worked out on an exercise bike with a big smile, thanking her physiotherapy team for their support. “Thank you @physios2u and @xfmerryhill for your amazing space allowing us to help and lush with my recovery,” she captioned the video, reported by the Mirror.

Reflecting on her journey over the past year, Amy shared an emotional video from her final round of chemotherapy, marking a powerful moment of strength and perseverance. “One year on and I’m determined to keep pushing this next year!” she wrote. “Thank you to all who messaged this past week; it truly means everything! I’d be lying if I said I’m okay, but I know I will be, and I’m lucky to have so many loved ones around me! 2025 sounds like an even better year, ay?”

In another clip, Amy lifted a kettlebell, sharing her aspirations for the future and a message of resilience. “Some of today’s exercises! I’m determined! Don’t get bitter, get better! Those dreams certainly aren’t fading away, and I’ll always continue to work hard to be the best version of myself,” she wrote.

Amy’s recovery journey comes after an emotional appearance on Lorraine, where she admitted feeling as though she had let JB down by having to withdraw. Holding back tears, she shared, “I’m going to do my best not to cry, and I know lots of people would say it’s an entertainment show. We were prepared that every week could be the dance-off, but I’m gutted it’s ended this way. I feel like I’ve let JB down.”

Amy’s courage and commitment to her health and passion for dance have inspired fans and viewers alike, as she looks forward to brighter days and new possibilities in the coming year.
