Brian Cox Calls Trump a ‘Monster’ in Heated Debate with Boris Johnson on Channel 4

Actor Brian Cox and former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson clashed on Channel 4 during a live debate on the presidential election, as the two shared sharply contrasting views on Donald Trump. The debate, aired from a Washington, D.C. studio, saw Cox calling Trump a “monster” and fiercely questioning his suitability as president, while Johnson defended Trump’s foreign policy record, according to the Independent.

During the segment, Johnson argued that Trump had brought “peace and relative stability” during his tenure, a claim Cox, appearing virtually from London, immediately challenged. “We have to make sure that he doesn’t get in because he is a monster, he really is,” Cox said about Trump, told the Mirror. “He’s crazy, he’s insane, he wants to be a dictator… I think he’s lost it. This is not a man who should be the president of the United States, absolutely not.”

The debate grew tense as Johnson attempted to downplay fears surrounding Trump’s potential handling of the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Johnson disagreed with Cox’s assertion that Trump would “give away” Ukraine to Russia, suggesting instead that Trump’s ego would prevent him from letting Putin win. “If he allows Putin to win – for his pride, for his ego, it’s a disaster,” Johnson argued. But Cox dismissed Johnson’s optimism, responding, “It’s ridiculous, of course he will… He doesn’t give a damn about America, he really doesn’t.”

The exchange continued as Johnson clarified his political stance, noting that as a British Conservative, he did not support Trump’s views on issues like reproductive rights, gun control, and tariffs. However, he defended Trump’s foreign policy actions, including the Abraham Accords and relations with Iran, asserting that these moves brought “peace and relative stability.”

Cox, on the other hand, refused to acknowledge any redeeming qualities in Trump. “He’s unreliable, he’s a convicted felon, I’m horrified,” he said. When Johnson questioned Cox’s dismissive view of Trump’s legacy, Cox retorted, “I don’t buy it, I don’t buy any of it.”

The discussion took another turn when adult film actress Stormy Daniels, whose hush money case has plagued Trump, posed a question to Johnson about his friendship with Trump. She asked, “Would you leave your daughter alone with Donald Trump?” to which Johnson replied, “I don’t see why not…yes,” describing Trump as “courteous” and “polite” in his experience.

As the debate concluded, Cox commented on his refusal to ever portray Trump onscreen, saying, “It’s a terribly bad part, nobody would want to play Donald Trump because it’s such a terrible role… how do you find any redeeming feature in the human being?”

The fiery exchange highlighted the polarizing views on Trump’s legacy and the intense emotions surrounding his possible return to the presidency.
