Experts Reveal King Charles’ Reasoning for Keeping Distance from Prince Harry
0Experts are shedding light on why King Charles has chosen to maintain distance from Prince Harry, even as questions continue to arise about their strained relationship. Royal biographer Robert Hardman recently shared insights during an interview, explaining the reasoning behind the King’s current approach to his younger son.
In an interview reported by Fox News, Hardman discussed the pressures surrounding the King, highlighting the delicate balancing act of his new role. “I know people keep saying, ‘Why doesn’t he see Harry when he’s in town? Why can’t they patch things up?’ But right now, there is a sense that we’ve just got to keep the King’s stress levels down. We don’t want him to have extra things to worry about,” Hardman stated.
He continued, “There’s a sense that now is probably not the time,” suggesting that the King’s advisors and family feel it’s best to manage current affairs without adding the complexities of reconciling with Harry. Since Prince Harry’s departure from royal duties, he has shared numerous critical perspectives on the Royal Family in his TV series, memoir, and various interviews. Hardman emphasized that “there’s a lot to unpack,” noting that the amount of unresolved issues between Harry and the monarchy makes reconciliation difficult at present.
Hardman also believes that despite the current distance, the King would welcome a future opportunity to reconnect with Harry. “I’m sure the King would like to normalize things with his ‘darling boy,’” he said, hinting at King Charles’ affection for his son even amid the ongoing rift.
The King’s affection extends to his grandchildren as well. Hardman pointed out that Charles finds joy in spending time with his young family members, particularly Prince William and Princess Catherine’s children, who live close to Windsor Castle. “People thought that when he became King, he’d have so much going on and see less of them. But funny enough, since he’s become King… there are still opportunities to see the young families,” Hardman shared.
King Charles divides his time between official residences and personal retreats, including London, Highgrove, and Scotland. He reportedly tries to spend at least a couple of nights each week at Windsor Castle, where he is just a short walk from William, Catherine, and their children. Ironically, his new role has provided more chances to connect with his family, despite the increased responsibilities.
For now, Charles’ focus remains on managing his duties and keeping his schedule balanced, with hopes that the timing for reconciliation with Harry may improve in the future.
