Jonnie Irwin’s Final Gift: Wife Jess to Inherit Nearly £1 Million After a Proper ‘Awful’ Goodbye

Jonnie Irwin, the beloved host of A Place in the Sun, who tragically passed away in February at the age of 50, has left his wife Jess nearly £1 million in his will, according to recent reports. The Sun has revealed that Jonnie’s widow, Jess, who he married in 2016, will inherit his entire estate, valued at £953,000.

The probate documents cited by The Sun detail that Jonnie’s final will was signed in October 2022, just a few months before his passing. The documents reportedly show that Jonnie had £956,967 in assets, which was slightly reduced to £953,425 after deductions.

Jonnie, a father of three, made his terminal cancer diagnosis public in November 2022, although he had been battling the illness privately since 2020. He was initially given just six months to live, but in an incredible display of resilience, Jonnie lived nearly three more years, defying the odds and continuing to work and care for his family during this time.

The news of his diagnosis came just two months before the birth of his twins, Rafa and Cormac, adding to the emotional weight of his battle. By November 2022, Jonnie shared the devastating update that the cancer had spread to his brain.

Jess, Jonnie’s widow, has opened up about the harrowing experience of his final days. In an emotional interview with the Daily Mail in May, Jess described how Jonnie’s last moments were far from peaceful. “You hear people say: ‘He passed away peacefully. It was lovely,’ but it wasn’t for Jonnie. It was a [bleep]ing awful process. I wish I hadn’t seen it but I had to be with him,” Jess said, revealing the painful reality of losing her husband.

In honor of Jonnie’s memory, Jess shared that some of his ashes will be used to nurture the roots of an evergreen tree planted on her family’s land. The rest of Jonnie’s remains were scattered on a mountain in the Lake District by his close friends, a place that held special significance for him.

Jonnie Irwin’s legacy extends beyond his work on television, as his courage and love for his family continue to inspire many. His passing marks the end of a journey marked by resilience and devotion, leaving behind a family who will cherish his memory forever.
