Royal Expert: ‘Kate Middleton ‘frustrated’ as Meghan Markle could take ‘burden off shoulder’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could have played a pivotal role in the Royal Family had they remained active members of the monarchy, according to royal experts. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are now living in the United States, might have provided crucial support to Prince William and Kate Middleton during challenging times for the Royal Family.

In an interview with Fabulous, royal commentator Phil Dampier expressed his thoughts on the current state of the monarchy and the potential impact Harry and Meghan could have had. “All of a sudden, the slimmed-down monarchy by default is looking very slim, so they are thin on the ground,” Dampier explained, told GB News.

He pointed out that, had Harry and Meghan continued as working royals, they could have helped fill the gaps in royal duties left by other family members. “So it is frustrating,” Dampier added, reflecting on the situation. The expert noted that with the next generation of royals—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—still years away from taking on official duties, the Royal Family is facing a challenging period.

“We’re going to have to wait until George, Charlotte, and Louis are another 10 years older before they can start performing duties. And in the meantime, it’s going to be difficult.” Dampier also mentioned the late Queen Elizabeth II’s intentions for Harry and Meghan, indicating that she had “massive plans” for the couple within the monarchy. Their involvement could have significantly eased the burden on Prince William and Kate Middleton, who are now at the forefront of royal responsibilities.

“Harry and Meghan could have taken a great weight off their shoulders,” Dampier emphasized. However, with the Sussexes establishing their own independent path, often referred to as a “rival court,” the dynamic within the Royal Family has fundamentally changed.

Dampier expressed concerns about potential conflicts arising from the couple’s separate ventures. “They will obviously hope that things they do don’t overlap with what William’s doing,” he said, referring to Prince William’s upcoming engagements, such as the Earthshot Prize in South Africa. Meanwhile, Prince Harry’s ongoing commitment to the Invictus Games is another major event on the horizon.

“As long as they don’t directly clash in terms of dates, and try to score points off each other, and they’re not directly competing in the same field, I think they can carry on,” Dampier observed. However, he lamented the unfortunate reality of the situation: “It’s just tragic that it’s come to this, that they’re doing their own thing.” This commentary sheds light on the ongoing challenges within the Royal Family and the missed opportunities for unity and collaboration.
