Michelle Keegan Shares Key to Keeping Spark Alive with Husband Mark Wright During Long-Distance Stints
Former Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan has shared the main key to keeping the spark alive with her husband, Mark Wright, during their long-distance periods while she is away filming.
The 37-year-old actress has traveled extensively for various acting roles and has taken numerous measures to keep her marriage strong. Michelle, who stars in Netflix’s Fool Me Once, discussed her relationship with Fearne Cotton on her Happy Place podcast.
When Fearne asked what makes her and TOWIE star Mark so compatible, Michelle replied, “I think just being best friends. I think just being friends and having that relationship. We are really lucky that if I go up north, he comes with me if he can, and the same goes when I go down south.”
She added, “We are based down south but if we travel, we go with each other and I think that really works for us.” The couple, who have been married for ten years, don’t let long distances get in the way. Michelle shared that she spent two months without her husband in 2022 when she was in Sydney for work before Mark joined her for six weeks.
Michelle and Mark’s love story began in 2012 when they met while on separate holidays in Dubai. Their romance blossomed, and they made their relationship public in May 2013 at the British Soap Awards. Later that year, Mark proposed in Dubai, where they first met, and they tied the knot in May 2015 in a lavish ceremony.
The couple now reside in a sprawling £3.5 million Essex mansion, which they purchased in 2019 and have been renovating for the last few years. Mark recently expressed his pride for Michelle, praising her latest performance.
He wrote on Instagram, “I can’t tell you how happy and proud I am for this incredible woman I call my wife. It’s hard for people outside to see the work that goes into an actor’s life behind the scenes to get to the top. People might think that it comes easily; they just roll up and do their job, but it couldn’t be further from the truth.”
He added that he is her “biggest fan” and “right here behind you, all the way!!” Michelle and Mark’s dedication to supporting each other through their careers and maintaining their connection despite long distances showcases the strength of their relationship and the deep bond they share.
