Princess Kate is Not Expected to Return to Work Says Kensington Palace

Kensington Palace has clarified that the Princess of Wales will not be resuming public engagements for the time being. This announcement comes amid the release of a new report from one of her closest causes, the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.

“The princess is not expected to return to work until it’s cleared by her medical team,” a spokesperson told BBC on Tuesday, adding that “Early childhood will continue to be central to her public work.”

In March, Princess Kate revealed through a video message that she had been diagnosed with an unspecified type of cancer. “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was noncancerous,” she shared. While the surgery was deemed “successful,” further tests post-operation revealed that cancer had been present.

“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” Kate explained. She began chemotherapy in February.

Since her announcement, the palace has not provided any updates on Kate’s condition, maintaining that “The Princess has a right to medical privacy, as we all do.”

Prince William has occasionally updated the public on his wife’s health. In April, during a walkabout following an engagement, a woman asked the Prince, “Do you mind if I ask how you and the children are?”

“All doing well ― thank you. Yes, we’re doing well,” William replied.

Last week, during another engagement, William reiterated that the princess was “doing well.”

Despite her health challenges, the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood remains a key focus for Princess Kate. The center recently released a new report highlighting its ongoing work and initiatives. The princess’s commitment to early childhood development has been a central aspect of her public role, and the palace’s statement underscores that this will continue once she returns to her duties.

As the Princess of Wales continues her treatment, public attention remains on her recovery and eventual return to her royal responsibilities. The royal family has expressed gratitude for the support and understanding shown by the public during this challenging time.
