Everyone Is So Keen for Harry and Meghan to Come”: Ghana Invites the Sussexes Following Successful Nigeria Trip

Following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s high-profile and successful visit to Nigeria, sources have revealed that officials and leading icons in Ghana are keen to invite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to their country. Insiders say that the West African nation’s bigwigs and artistic influencers are eager for the couple to experience the rich culture and warm hospitality of Accra, the capital city beloved by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

A source told the Mirror, “There is already a lot of talk and excitement in Ghana, everyone is so keen for Harry and Meghan to come and experience the great culture and warmth. Several top names have already visited Ghana in recent years from Ed Sheeran, Naomi Campbell, and One Direction’s Liam Payne. Idris Elba, who DJ’d at Harry and Meghan’s wedding, is a regular too; he is part-Ghanaian and loves spending time ‘back home.'”

The source added that Prince Harry would be welcomed with open arms, with the finest Afro-beat performers drafted in to celebrate his arrival. “Harry certainly won’t be short of people to show him around and they will certainly roll out the red carpet for him, drafting in some of the finest Afro-beat performers to welcome him and his family. So perhaps it is only a matter of time before Harry and Meghan come out, and sample the famous jollof rice!”

The invitation comes on the heels of the Sussexes’ triumphant tour of Nigeria, where they supported their “Giants of Africa” programming and announced plans to expand their efforts by providing an additional adaptive court and accessible sports for the community of Abuja. During their visit, Meghan and Harry hosted a basketball clinic, engaged in meaningful conversations, and shared laughter with the local community.

The couple also gave fans a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes moments of their Nigeria trip, with Meghan becoming emotional when presented with a special gift for her children, Archie and Lilibet. Stephanie Busari, CNN Nigeria Bureau Chief and Senior Editor, whose 13-year-old daughter Grace gifted the Duchess a pair of hand-stitched teddy bears, shared her experience of the groundbreaking visit.

“Wow! That was the weekend that was! Flying to Abuja to cover the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visit, I truly didn’t know what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised. They are fun, caring, loved up, compassionate, total naturals with a crowd,” Busari said. “To see Harry sitting on the floor to play volleyball with disabled servicemen was something and he showed such compassion too during his hospital visit to Kaduna.”

However, not everyone is thrilled about the Sussexes’ Nigerian adventure. According to royal author Tom Quinn, King Charles and Prince William are reportedly “furious” over the couple’s travels, as the trip bore a striking resemblance to an official royal tour. Quinn told the Mirror that the king is believed to be “angrier than anyone has ever seen him,” while William is “absolutely furious and determined to find a way to stop this happening in [the] future.”

The family’s concerns allegedly stem from the fact that the couple’s hosts in Nigeria organized the event as if it were an official tour, with dances, receptions, and visits to schools and charities. Quinn suggested that the senior royals are worried that Harry and Meghan are essentially saying, “We don’t need your permission to be working royals—we will do it on our own terms, whenever and wherever we like.”
