Prince William Praised for Letting Kate Middleton ‘Take the Lead’ During Royal Visit: ‘She No Longer Needs to Be Joined at His Hip

Prince William has been commended for his heartfelt gesture that demonstrated he and his wife Kate Middleton are equals. Despite being the heir apparent, William often allows Kate to take the reins, including during a significant royal visit to Wales.

On March 1 last year, the couple marked their inaugural St David’s Day as Prince and Princess of Wales with a visit to the country. This was followed by a trip back to Windsor, where they attended the St David’s Day Parade at the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards at Combermere Barracks.

Both royals seemed delighted with their new roles, but one body language expert highlighted Kate’s confidence during the visit, suggesting it indicated her strong influence in their relationship.

Speaking to Marie Claire on behalf of Betfair Bingo, Darren Stanton noted that Kate “very much tends to take the lead these days.” He pointed out how she didn’t wait for William or her security to open the car door upon arrival, instead choosing to get “straight out” herself to engage in the events, reports the Mirror.

He added: “This is not a sign of disrespect or disdain, however, she now realizes that she no longer needs to be joined at William’s hip. When they attend events together, William is clearly happy to let her take the lead, which has allowed Kate to develop massively.”

During the landmark St David’s Day parade at Combermere last year, Prince William delivered a speech where he shared fond memories of his time with the Welsh Guards and lauded their strong camaraderie. He amusingly recounted an incident deep in the Belize jungle when he was anxiously awaiting his A Level results via a Bowman radio.

He said: “Many of you will know the feeling of being in the jungle; you’re incredibly hot, continuously soaking wet and with nowhere to hide from potentially horrendous results, it could have been a really bad day! Ultimately though, it was the camaraderie, the togetherness, and of course the banter of the Welsh Guards that got me through that period, and it’s a time I look back on fondly. I believe it’s only with these bonds and this ‘togetherness,’ that you can create a strong body of professional soldiers.”

This gesture by Prince William to allow Kate to step into a more prominent role reflects the couple’s modern approach to their royal duties. It not only showcases their partnership but also highlights Kate’s growing confidence and influence within the Royal Family. As the Princess of Wales continues to take on more responsibilities, her dynamic with William sets a positive example of mutual respect and equality in their roles.
