The Companions of Honour was established by King George V in 1917, aimed at recognizing individuals who have made significant achievements in the Arts, Sciences, Medicine, and Public Service. While the King does not directly bestow the title, it is awarded by the Cabinet Office based on Charles’s recommendation.
