King Charles to Attend Easter Service at St George’s Chapel Amid Cancer Treatment

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that King Charles III will be present at the Easter Sunday service at St George’s Chapel, marking his first significant appearance since his cancer diagnosis was disclosed. The 75-year-old monarch, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment, will be accompanied by Queen Camilla and other royal family members for this occasion.

Given his ongoing treatment, this year’s gathering is anticipated to be more subdued, with precautions in place to minimize the King’s exposure to large crowds. This follows the tradition set last year, where King Charles, newly ascended to the throne, led a procession to the chapel alongside senior royals, including a notable appearance by Prince Andrew.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Catherine, will be absent from this year’s service as Catherine continues her chemotherapy treatment following her cancer announcement. Their presence last year, along with their children, added to the familial spirit of the occasion.

Other royals, such as Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice, and Zara Tindall, who have historically participated, are expected to join this year’s Easter service, maintaining the royal tradition.

The recent health concerns of both King Charles and Princess Catherine had cast a shadow of uncertainty over the royal Easter plans. However, the Easter service, deemed a private family event, remains on the royal calendar, distinguishing it from the King’s public duties, which have been scaled back during his treatment period.

Looking ahead, King Charles is slated to resume his royal engagements by the summer, contingent upon his recovery and medical advice. A royal insider has expressed optimism about the King’s progress, noting his unwavering commitment to his duties despite the challenges posed by his health.

The palace, while hopeful, remains cautious, prioritizing the King’s health and adhering strictly to medical guidance in planning future engagements.
