16-Year-Old Charged with the New Year’s Eve Murder of Teenager Harry Pitman in London

In a tragic turn of events, 16-year-old Harry Pitman was fatally stabbed at Primrose Hill in London, moments before the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve. The incident occurred in a park renowned for its views of central London and popular for New Year’s celebrations, where thousands had gathered to witness the fireworks display.

The accused, another 16-year-old teenager from Westminster, whose identity is withheld due to legal reasons, faces charges of murder and possession of an offensive weapon. The police have been meticulously investigating the site since the incident.

Lisa Ramsarran, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for the CPS London Homicide Team, stressed the importance of a fair trial and cautioned against any form of public commentary or online sharing that could potentially jeopardize the legal proceedings.

The grief-stricken family of Harry is grappling with the loss. Derek Pitman, Harry’s grandfather, recounted the heart-wrenching moment when Neil, Harry’s father, informed him of the tragedy. The family’s anguish was further described, with Harry’s mother inconsolable and fixated on the uneaten dinner waiting for her son.

A vigil in memory of Harry was held in north London at Downhills Park, close to the family’s home in Tottenham, where relatives and members of the community came together to mourn and pay their respects.
